The mandate of the Lagos State Accident & Emergency Centre is to provide free and qualitative emergency care to victims of injuries in the State. Since nobody keeps a little purse of money on them in the event that they get into a road traffic crash on 3rd Mainland Bridge, it is well thought out that care for such victims should be the best available provided at no cost to them. Thus, the Lagos State government provides the funds for taking care of all patients brought to LASAEC.
As health cannot be free, even in the best of countries around the world, Government welcomes the support of altruistic and generous persons who wish to support the care of injured Lagosians.
Thus, LASAEC is charged with treating the injured in the first 24 to 48 hours of their injury at no cost to them. It is hoped that patients that still require further care after the institution of emergency care, can be referred to secondary centres where their care can be completed. It is also believed that friends and family would have been reached at this time and concerted effort can be made to ensure the continuum of care.
